DupeTrasher solves the problem of finding and removing duplicate files. Rich feature set contains following major features:
Finds duplicate files
As the main feature, DupeTrasher finds duplicate files, presents you with the results in an intuitive form and provides option to remove redundant ones.
Finds duplicate folders
DupeTrasher finds duplicate folders that have either the same files or even the completely same hierarchical structure that includes all subfolders.
Finds duplicate archives and their extraction folders
DupeTrasher peeks inside archives to detect duplicate archives with the same content but which can be of different type (eg. rar and zip). It will also find duplicate files that are available inside archives and outside them. In addition, folders where archives have been extracted will be detected with this feature too.
Customized search
Fine-tune your search options to suit your individual needs. You can select what, where and how search is to be performed.
Predefined options for common search scenarios
DupeTrasher offers several predefined options to start your search with the minimum effort. These include, but are not limited to, comparing files from two folders, removing files already available on CD/DVD, find duplicate files in archives...
Remove duplicates by deleting or moving to other location
Once search is done and duplicates for removal are marked, you will be able to remove them by deleting or moving to some other location for backup purpose.

Multiple views for the search results
Once search is done, you can view duplicate files in several ways, depending on how you would like to handle them. For example, you can use one view to see detailed list of all duplicate files, or you can see same files arranged in folders hierarchy where they have been found.
Filter and sort results
DupeTrasher helps you mark the duplicates for removal by providing filtering and sorting options. This can be really useful and timesaving, as you will not need to go through the list of hundreds of files and mark each manually.
Safety checks
DupeTrasher is concerned with the safety of your files. It will skip system files from search and will let you define locations where it should not search. Other precautions include notifying you in case you try to delete important files accidentally.
Premarking
You can specify which locations contain master or redundant files in advance, before search even starts. This will result in redundant files being automatically marked once search is done. In addition, files premarked as master will be protected from accidental deleting.
Mark assistant
In case you just want to mark duplicates automatically with one click, Mark Assistant will do this for you. It will take the best guess at which file is most likely to be removed based on file's properties such as date of creation, premarking etc...
Shortcuts for common tasks
Use keyboard, mouse and context menus to get any tasks done in a snap. For example, if you left click the checkbox, it will mark the file for removal, but if you right click the same checkbox, it will mark all other files in its group of duplicate files. This saves time and removes tedious task of instead going through each file and manually left clicking all of them.
